Seismic imaging is the most widely used geophysical technique. Seismic waves are produced and reflected or refracted events are measured at the surface. By processing of the data and advanced inversion techniques, structures in the subsurface can be made visible in 2D or 3D.

We have purchased a 48-channel seismic acquisition system from DMT GmbH & Co. KG together with an electrodynamic vibrator source from Geosym GmbH and tested the system successfully on December 5, 2023. This allows us to perform shallow seismic imaging with a reproducible source signal in our ongoing and future teaching and research activities and we are very much looking forward to this!

Our sincere thanks to Volker Schäpe (DMT GmbH & Co. KG) and Steffen Uhlmann (IGM Ingenieurgesellschaft für Geophysikalische Messtechnik mbH) for the knowledgeable introduction to the system!
