We are currently hosting Prof. Larisa Beilina from the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, who is here with a prestigious Theodore-von-Kármán-Fellowship. This fellowship is awarded by the Exploratory Research Space (ERS) and the International Office of RWTH Aachen University. During his stay at Chalmers University, Dr. Marc S. Boxberg has started to collaborate with Prof. Beilina on advanced inversion methods for ultrasound waveform data. This collaboration is currently being extended during Prof. Beilina’s visit to RWTH Aachen University. Prof. Beilina will be here until February 3, 2026 and will return for a second visit at the end of October 2026.

During her stay, Prof. Beilina is engaging in various academic activities. She gave a talk on “Adaptive finite element method for solution of coefficient inverse problems” as part of the SSD Seminar Series on January 26, 2026. In autumn, she will also be delivering a lecture for the general public. The date and topic of this lecture will be announced at a later time.
